Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Reflection and sermon for August 4

A wonderful day at Church. I even got out to see Tony and Tony Jr. (Tony is recovering nicely too I might add). Great news all around and a fabulous rehearsal for next week's Sursum Corda, Response, and Proper Preface singing. Today's reflections in Formation class and in the sermon looked at our understanding that "God is God and not simply a super-super-human" (statement of the obvious) and how our society's desire for each person to save, save, save 'just in case' as opposed to sharing our gifts with those we are in relationship with is the contrast between our earthly desires and our heavenly relationship with God and God's creation. The sermon was "Prudence vs. paralysis... what we have (things) is not as important as the relationships we have." and is available below. I invite your comments.
Peace,
Les+
