757 255-4168 stjohns1755@verizon.net Worship Service: Sundays at 10:30am
Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

St. John's is now listed on the Historical Marker Database

It is nice to see interest in the life and history of St. John's. I received a note from a gentleman who had visited a couple days ago to look through the graveyard and look at headstones. As he was eating lunch I had the opportunity to chat with him and find out a little of his story. He shared with me that he comes by often and sits in the yard between the church and the parish house. Please feel free to check out his post and share with others.

Faithfully,

Sunday Sermon, 2 Epiphany (Year A)

Thanks to all who were able to come and share in the worship life at St. John's. We had a glorious service with the energy of children, visitors, and those celebrating milestone birthdays. A time to share in God's blessing and remember God's presence in our midst.

We continue to reflect on our sense of God's presence at our church and how we continue to grow in the appreciation of God's presence.

I have attached an audio copy of the sermon that was preached this morning that could be entitled "God is present in this place." http://chirb.it/nya9xK

May you be blessed as much as I was blessed in preparation.

Blessings,
Les+

1 Epiphany (A) Sermon at St. John's

It was a wonderful and worshipful day on this first Sunday after the Epiphany at St. John's. We were blessed to share in hearing God's word; praying for the life of the parish, the diocese, and the world; and a time of communion and fellowship. We welcome members, newcomers, and searchers to contact us at church regarding your reflections on our corporate worship and especially your thoughts about God at work around you.

We discussed items in the life of St. John's: the Outreach Committee meeting; the Flower ministry; fellowship at church; and our participation in the life of the Diocese at our upcoming Diocesan council in February.

I have attached an audio copy of the sermon that was preached this morning that could be entitled "The Epiphany is the radical message of God's call." http://chirb.it/f0tNev

May you be blessed as much as I was blessed in preparation.

Blessings,
