757 255-4168 stjohns1755@verizon.net Worship Service: Sundays at 10:30am
Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Reflection for Sunday December 16, 2012

Greetings from Chuckatuck on the third Sunday of Advent. Next week we will green the church - if you would like to come and join in the festivities stop by. Today's worship service and conversation went well. As you can imagine there was much discussion about the events of the past couple weeks - especially Friday's shooting in Connecticut. There were and are no easy answers to the questions that ensue from that event but we spent time searching for the assurance of hope and salvation in light of the tragedy from Friday. We know there will be more conversation in the coming days and weeks but it was a good start.

Today's sermon focused on Paul's definition of the dream we have in our relationship with God and the assurance given by Zephaniah that God will redeem us, but that redemption will not come without a cost. I invite your comments.
