Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Reflection and sermon for Sunday November 11 - Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day. It was another great day in Chuckatuck and there was a slight uptick in the temperature - so much that we had "Lemonade on the Lawn" today. Many also took the opportunity to go to the Volunteer Fire Department to celebrate the homecoming of Lon Bickham (a member of Wesley Chapel and longtime Chuckatuck Resident). A rough estimate of attendees was over 1,250. Lots of moneywas raised to help his family as they prepare his house for independent living (burned over 90% of his body almost 2 years ago). It was heartwarming to share in our community coming together for food and fellowship and to make a difference in a neighbor's life.

We have shifted gears a little today in our sermon and reflections at church. Because this is the heart of pledge season it was somewhat opportune to have the story of the widow's mite today. We reflected on Jesus' contrasting the scribes and the widow and what his commentary about giving might entail for us today. How do we feel challenged by God and how do we respond in relationship with God?

I invite your comments,
