Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Community Thanksgiving Service reflection and sermon

What a blessing! There were at least 7 churches in attendance and participating in the Chuckatuck and Oakland Community Thanksgiving Service hosted by Oakland Christian United Church of Christ. We had participants from Little Bethel Baptist Church, Diamond Grove Baptist Church, Whitehead’s Grove Baptist Church, Upper Room Holiness Church, New Community Christian Center, Wesley Chapel UMC, Oakland Christian UCC, and St. John’s. The greatest thing about the service was the massed choir – there were singers from almost every one of those churches in attendance. I was also invited to preach the homily for the massed congregation and offered this sermon about worry and thanksgiving; how by seeking the kingdom of God we will become more aware of the numerous blessings we have.

Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to all,
Les+
