Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Sermon for Sunday September 9, 2012

Greetings on the 2nd Sunday in September. After the past couple weeks and the tough weather the end of this week was nice and relatively calm. It was nice to have our administrator back in the office for the first time in about 10 weeks following shoulder surgery. He's still not 100% but well enough to come back to work.

As much as I was trying to find a hook in today's sermon to connect to 9/11 I was inexplicably drawn to preach about poverty in our midst and how we are called by our relationship with God in Christ as a community to act (thank you James) to help others and ourselves to overcome our poverty - whether it be hope, finances, or relational. I invite your comments.
