757 255-4168 stjohns1755@verizon.net Worship Service: Sundays at 10:30am
Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Sermons for Sunday December 11, 2011 - 3 Advent

I was blessed to have the opportunity to celebrate and preach at two services today. I was also able to reconnect St. John's with Lake Prince Woods. We held "regular" service this morning at St. John's and I was the guest preacher at Lake Prince Woods for the 4:00 pm Vespers Service.

At St. John's we’re on the downside of Advent, with just one more Sunday before Christmas. We continued to explore God’s story and our story; how we can capitalize on our past in order to remember the hope in our future; and to help refine what we are called to do because we are called to ministry. Today’s sermon was entitled “How the Spirit of God helps us tell God’s story.”

Later in the day I was blessed to be the visiting preacher at Lake Prince Woods Retirement Home in Suffolk. It was a true blessing to worship and share the story of Advent with the loving people there. The message will sound a lot like this morning’s but I invite you to come and hear “The Spirit of God is upon us.”

I bid you blessings on the remainder of your Advent journey.
