757 255-4168 stjohns1755@verizon.net Worship Service: Sundays at 10:30am
Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Reflection from Pentecost 2 - June 2, 2013

Summer is here in the first weekend in June. Hot and humid worship this morning compounded by some temperamental AC units. We were blessed to have a good group in Sunday School class and we discussed the impact of Ba’al’s 450 priests versus Elijah and how that helps us remember that God welcomes us back when we turn back and that God is more powerful and amazing that we imagine.

We had a good group in worship and even had an amphibian visitor – a small frog hopped from under the pews, down the aisle, and towards the altar. Quite a stir from a wild visitor – thankfully it stayed the course and lasted for the entire service. Our sermon focused on telling the truth and the work of the prophet. We were prompted to think about how we are challenged to share the truth about God and God’s story as it is part and parcel of our story.
