Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Reflection and Sermon for March 10

Happy Daylight Saving Time! I hope everyone remembered to set their clocks ahead this morning. We continued our discussion about the Old Testament lessons looking at Joshua and the Israelite's return to relationship with God through their (second) circumcision and reinstitution of the Passover. We took hope in God's desire to be reconciled with humanity after their 40 year sojourn in the wilderness.

In worship today we looked at the Gospel reading and how the 4 principal characters in the story; the two sons, the father, and the Scribes and Pharisees. There was reflection on how each of the characters helps define humanity. We also saw, through the lens of Paul, how we become truly reconciled from the flawed humans of the Gospel by looking at each other as parts of he body of Christ and God.

I invite your comments,
Les+
