Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We look forward to a new liturgical year with many new opportunities to share God's word. Today's sermon took a look at what Advent is - a time of preparation and hope in the birth and future return of Christ. Today's message compared the desired state the Church invites us to - one of contemplation and reflection - and what the world presents - a life of chaos and disorder. Our work in Advent is to live in the tension between God's ideal and the world's reality; to help build a bridge between the two; and to celebrate each day as a new beginning and a time to connect with God and our Community.
