Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Reflection and Sermon for October 27, 2013

Friends:
It is a blessing to have fall upon us even if it means the heater is on in the Parish House. 5 around the table for Formation class this morning was a joy and we took a look at the prophet Joel and what he has to offer the Jews of his era and all people in our world. Our lives are not simply a journey from trouble to trouble but an excursion in God's abundance and presence in all our lives.
In worship we looked at the signs that God is all around us in our life? It is hard to argue that God is not all around us - God is part and parcel in all creation. We, both individually and our church, are known by the stripes we show and the life we live; we are also known by the story we tell and live about the presence of God in our life (whether in words or not). We have heard Paul in his letter to Timothy tell us how he perceives God present - and his perception is important to overcome the obstacles to faith in his day. The way we tell our story about God present (our theology) is important to how we help others find God at work and God's abundance always present.
I invite your comments,
Les+
