Welcome to St. John's community. We are honored to serve Christ, and to open our doors to all. Please feel free to join us for worship. St. John's can trace its history to the founding of Jamestown. The parish is over 350 years old, and the church building itself has stood for 2 and a half centuries. St. John's saw the American Revolution and served as a camp ground for troops during the Civil War. Through it all, St. John's has been a place of worship and a home for those seeking communion with Christ. St. John's has a rich and abiding history. Today, it is as it was... a place to find and be found by Christ.

Sermon for Sunday September 16, 2012

Greetings on this mid-September Sunday. We continue to experience new ministries with our members; the Saint John Singers provided an offering after Communion - a rendition of Psalm 25. The Parish enjoyed the offering and helped us see the Parish enjoys call and response singing, at least in the Psalms. We hope that our choir can enrich our worship experience and help us be engaged in opening the doors for others to visit.

This morning's sermon looked at a portion of the gospel reading in greater depth, "who do you say I am... if any want to be my followers..." We looked at what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus and how it runs counter to society. The sermon was entitled "the cost of following Jesus." I invite your thoughts.
